Why did the Brontës love the moors so much? This week, I headed out onto the Haworth moors with my daughter Emily, two dogs and some rather unpredictable British weather to find out. What started as a beautiful day soon involved wind, rain, sunshine, sideways weather and two dogs who had absolutely no intention of making the walk straightforward. But as we made our way across the moors, there was plenty of time to think about why this landscape meant so much to the Brontë family. From Emily Brontë's love of the moors to the family's walks with their dogs, the Meeting of the Waters, Brontë Falls, Wuthering Heights and the words the sisters left behind, this was a very different way of exploring Brontë history. Come along with us for a rather windy adventure across the Haworth moors and see if we can discover why the Brontës loved this wild, beautiful and ever-changing landscape quite so much. .
